Weird Weather
There’s something going on out there,
The strangest-looking sight;
Some dried leaves still cling to trees
Tho snow fell hard
last night.
Mother Nature can’t
keep track,
Much to her regret,
She’s getting older, and like me,
She also can forget.
Perhaps she played a trick on us
And got the seasons wrong …
Did winter come too early,
Or did autumn stay
too long?

A Gift
A gift,
Received
Or given,
Is but
A bit
Of heaven.

Moment
It just takes a moment
To hug a child to your chest
And say,
“These are the times I like the best.”
It just takes a moment
To look in the face of a friend
And say,
“You’ll live in my heart to the end.”
It just takes a moment
To glance up at the sky
And say,
“Thanks, God, for passing by.”
– John Tissot
Christmas Bells
Small ones, large ones
ringing near and wide –
Bring in the season
the joy of Yuletide.
– James Rhodes
Sonoran Solstice
The December
sun
glides
behind Mt. Lemmon
slides through
a slim
crevice
desert
drafts shift
yellow to mauve
to magenta
to black
crystalled
by one
star
that draws
snow-cold
down the Catalinas
toward
Tucson.
– Sheryl L. Nelms
Winter Art
The beauty of a barren tree
Lifting winter arms to pray
Delights the one with eyes to see
A special artist has passed this way.
– Joyce Roner
Whispering Pines
Early morning light, first rays of dawn
in through the window they’re softly drawn.
Like the bright gleam of the new sunshine,
comes the sweet song of the whispering pines.
Late afternoon breeze, slow setting sun;
cooling the earth as day is done.
Slipping through the house, rustling the blinds,
comes the gentle song of the whispering pines.
Darkness falls like a soft caress,
telling my mind and body, it’s time to rest.
Outside my window in fast fading lines,
comes the sleepy song of the whispering pines.
– Dianne Bucy
