Daddy

When I was small
You'd lift me up
To stand upon your shoes.
You'd hum a tune
And hold my hands;
We'd dance around the room.
Of all the memories
I have gathered,
Here's one I'll never lose:
The memory of dancing tall
On top of Daddy's shoes.

My Childhood Summers

Hot sidewalks sizzling and burning my feet,
Double feature movies for a special treat.
Crosby, Hope and Lamour making me grin,
Vanilla ice cream dribbling down my chin.
Amos and Andy on the radio,
Cherry cokes, Ritz crackers and Oleo.
Trips to the beach in a Model A Ford,
Endless lazy days to sit and be bored.
